Abstract:

Software testing is slowly but surely evolving into an independent activity separate from software development. Software testing is also forming a significant portion of outsourced activity. Software testing is unique in the sense that the number of tests that need to be carried out differ from project to project. In this scenario, estimating the effort required to execute a testing project has assumed importance. This lecture is intended to introduce the various techniques available for software test effort estimation. It is proposed to cover the following topics -

1.     Introduction to Testing basics
2.     Techniques of Test Effort Estimation
3.     Introduction to Software Test Units
4.     Introduction to Task Based Estimation
5.     Introduction to Delphi Technique
6.     Introduction to Analogy Based Estimation

There will be questions and answers at the end.
